A Salute To Phenomenal Women

I’m a pretty good mom……most days. I do the very best I can for my babies. I make sure they’re clean, give them decent meals and pretend to listen to all the silly stories they tell me. But there are days, days when I’m tired, frustrated and impatient. They want to play; I want to sleep. They want to talk; I want to meditate. They want to be loved; I want to be left alone.

Many days I fumble around with parenting, pretending I know exactly what to do. Wasn’t their an instructional manual the hospital should have sent me home with after each birth? Parenting is definitely an on the job training assignment and I’m not so sure what my yearly evaluation looks like.

Women get so caught up in managing the world that most times we neglect ourselves. I am definitely guilty of putting myself last on my never ending “to do” list. Everyone’s needs come before mine: my children, my husband, my boss, my laundry, my bills, etc. That’s the way it is. That’s the way it always has been. Seemingly, that’s the way it will always be.

But somehow, no matter how frazzled we may get, we remain steadfast and immovable. We can endure until the very last hour of the day, when all our energy is gone…then muster up enough reserves to take care of hubby who’s anxiously awaiting a moment alone with us!

Where do we get the strength? Where does the determination and dedication come from? Deep inside of all women, God has placed an unbelievable amount of will. The will to take care of our families. The will to press on until the end. The will to do amazing things and still remain fabulous all the while.

I stand up and applaud all my fellow sisters, women, wives and mothers. You are phenomenal creatures. You serve as inspirations to one another with your soft hands and powerful spirits. I salute you.
