Watch Your Favorite TV Shows Online Legally For Free
Times sure have changed when it comes to watching television. I remember when my Dad brought home this humongous box that took two people to carry into our family room. He called it a VCR. From there, we moved to DVDs to DVRs to the Internet. We can even watch TV on our phones now!
There are a few advantages to watching TV online. One, you can watch whenever it is convenient for you. Two, there are usually less commercials than on network television. And three, you can watch TV anywhere you can take your laptop (even the bathroom).
Here are some of my favorite places to watch TV online:
1. Hulu. There is a large amount of shows available on Hulu. Some are current and also from the last 40+ years. I’ve watched quite a few episodes of the Twilight Zone and Bewitched on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
2. Network website. Most network websites offer a few episodes of it’s hottest shows online. You can also find a lot of information about the series, actors, games, downloads and pictures.
3. iTunes. Most of the shows on iTunes must be purchased, but they always have an offering of free shows. If you go to the TV shows section of iTunes, you’ll see a link to “Free Shows.”
The next two do not show the episodes on their sites, but they are a great resource when you are looking for one episode in particular or want to watch all seasons of a show.
4. Fancast. Offer a page for each TV show with links to full episodes available online.
5. Spreety. You can find the links to most seasons, clips and webisodes in one spot at Spreety.
Let’s Talk! Do you watch more TV on your television or online?

I ditched cable and now only watch TV through Hulu and stream movies through Netflix. I will have to check out Fancast and Spreety. I have found that I have more time to focus on my blogs and other things around the house. My son however is not having such an easy go at it. He will be ok soon enough.
This also saves $$ and I am all for that

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for the tips. I have used Hulu, netflix and Itunes but didn’t know about Fancast and Spreety. I’ll go check them out. I still have cable but mainly use my DVR and barely watch regularly scheduled TV. Maybe I’ll do Alicia’s plan and go totally online. Cable is expensive.
I am old fashioned and love my television
Hubby is a fan of watching shows on his laptop though. It’s just not the same to me! I need a big screen. Speaking of flashbacks, I just told me daughter that a movie she wants to see is no longer in theatres and that we’ll have to “rent” it. Then I realized she has no idea what it means to rent! It’s all about watching something On Demand. O lordy, I’m getting old!
My kids idea of “renting” a video means we pay for the movie on Video On Demand. Try mentioning Beta and they’ll look at you like you are from another planet! LOL!
Alicia – I wish I could totally ditch cable, but I haven’t been able to take that final step yet. I think that once we get our house wired so we can watch Hulu on all our TVs, we may do it, but until then…we have cable.
Boni – I agree that cable is expensive. People complain about having to pay $10 for the new Hulu Plus, but we pay a heck of a lot more for cable and then with cable, we have to watch a LOT more commercials.
