Use Evernote to Take Your Notes With You

Evernote is an awesome note taking tool.  What makes it the BEST tool is that you can sync it with just about any device as long as you have access to the internet.

Evernote is available in both a free and paid version ($5/month or $45/year). The big differences are the amount of information and types of documents you can save each month. You can upload pdf files, pictures, audio and clip information using the desktop or browser clippers.

One of the coolest features is searching for text within pictures. If you have a picture of a building that says, “Building A” and you want to find that picture, you can put “Building A” in the search and Evernote will find it for you.

I’m going to show you a quick way to take a note in Evernote and have the notes available on several devices. You find an AWESOME article on MyBlogalious about scheduling tweets that you want to save so you can access it at a later date.

If you have installed Evernote in your browser, you will see an elephant button on your toolbar at the top. Here is an example of the button in Firefox.

I always highlight the information on the page that I would like to save so I don’t end up saving ads and other items. This is what you see when you click on the Evernote button in Chrome. You can add tags (top arrow) and/or text (bottom arrow) to the note in Evernote.

Click on Done and your note will be added to your Evernote account. From there, you can sync and access the note from just about any device where you can access the internet.

Here is the note on the desktop version of Evernote. The first arrow shows where the tags are and the second arrow is pointing to the text that was added. You can sort by the tags or search by any word or combination of words.

Evernote can be used in so many different ways. I upload so much to Evernote using the paid version each month. I upload pictures, pdf documents, bits of information from the internet, email (you can send information via email to your Evernote account) and just about anything that I want to access no matter where I am. When I go to a conference, I add lots of notes about my travel, hotel, conference sponsors, meetings and sessions. I will take a picture of receipts and tag them with the conference name.
