Devastation, Despair… Hope
Many of you may not know this, but I am a native of Birmingham, AL. On April 27 (which happened to be my 25th birthday) a devastating storm ripped through the city and caused pain that I could have never imagined.
Amazingly, out of all of that and in light of everything all is well. Immediately, people sprung into action. Neighbors began helping neighbors. People whose houses had been destroyed were helping others.
I’ve seen neighborhoods that have existed forever be destroyed. I’ve seen daughters, wives and grandmothers struggle. I’ve heard that prom dresses were needed. I’ve seen them provided. I’ve seen churches destroyed and churches open their doors to strangers to provide food, clothing and even shelter.
What amazes me is through all this the country manages to continue to be at each others throats over small things. Our people are suffering yet we have come to the brink of shutting down over what essentially boils down to abortion and other rights which the government has no business butting in. All at once, my country both amazes me and disappoints me.
Am I alone in this? Does anyone else understand the awe of how together and disjointed we are? Is it fixable?
(These are just my musings… I’m trying to get everything back straight after the four storms we suffered. I’ll be back… hopefully soon with something awesome)

You’re in my prayes.
