Michelle McKinney Hammond Returns to Ghana. Fairy Tales Do Come True (Video)
About five years ago there was this celebrated author who sold millions of books – but hit a “wall” that almost did her in. The economic situation was ugly.
“I went from flourishing to hitting rock bottom to practically losing everything,” said Michelle McKinney Hammond.
But this tale does have a happy ending. The DIVA gets her palace…and the full, abundant, creative life she’s always craved.
Here’s how the story goes:
Once upon a time, Michelle McKinney Hammond’s lifestyle centered around the finer things in life—designer clothes, five-star restaurants, and bag after bag of high-end nonessentials.
Then one day, like many people, Michelle awoke to find herself on the losing end of a most unwelcome and unexpected financial downturn. In response, she quickly went from “spoiled” to “fabulously frugal,” and with courage and a sense of humor, she made the necessary adjustments in her life.
Hear the interview here that I did with her in 2010.
2010 was a tough year for Michelle. Her father died in the spring of the year – and she had some tough decisions to make.
But what was constant through it all was her faith, her positive, hopeful attitude and courage.
She hung on, though things were bleak, there eventually came a bright rainbow at the end.
She is now living and loving in a beautiful palace-like home in GHANA. She is creating, singing and producing music. She is making movies and of course, still writing best-seller books.
See the video I put together for her featuring her song (plus she is lead vocals), “Shelter” and pics of her fabulous, peaceful home in Africa.
Michelle McKinney Hammond is the author of over 50 books on living, loving, and overcoming. She is the President and Founder of HeartWing Ministries, which hosts annual DIVA Weekend Getaway Conferences.
She previously lived in Chicago and now lives in Accara, Ghana in Africa.
Michelle’s mission and passion to help women and men to first be intimately connected to God and then empowered to become their personal best in order to experience victory in every area of their lives.
Michelle’s ministry began many years ago when she suffered a devastating leg injury from being hit by a car. The accident was a spiritual turning point, a wake up call to embrace her purpose and fulfill her destiny. Those bedridden months gave her time to complete her first bestselling book, “What to Do Until Love Finds You.”
What to do until love finds you? Keep believing God will work it out for your good.
“God is about process,” says Michelle.
God worked it out for Michelle McKinney Hammond in ways she never thought or imagined.
She is living “happily ever after…” in her new home in Ghana.

Hi I’m so happy for Michelle. She deserves all the love and laughter her heart can hold. Also since she is no longer single dud she leave a list of authors that we look to for advice?
Thanks!
I’ve been following her for a long time. One of her books changed my life and helped me in my single journey. Is she married now?
I am so excited for Michelle that she has found love. I loved the way she characterized him as her “Boaz.” That speaks volumes as to the manhe is and her level of happiness with him. Giving God praise for your finding your “needle in a haystack,” Michelle. That gives the rest of us hope. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
