Want Fries With That?
When it comes to fries the potato is king, from McDonald’s, home and steak, to sweet potato fries. Let’s reconsider the possibilities, there is a whole world of fries out there beyond the spud.
Several months ago, Oprah magazine had an intriguing article about fries. Right away I made the Parmesan zucchini fries. They were delicious! To my surprise my family loved them as well, and ate them so fast I didn’t get a chance to take a picture. It only takes a few zucchini to make a large amount of fries.
Note: Make only what you’re going to eat, they’re not as tasty reheated.
Since making the zucchini fries, I’ve looked for other vegetables my family would enjoy as fries. With it being the spring/summer season, more of our favorites are available in the grocery stores, and farmer’s markets. I’m thinking asparagus fries, and that recipe can also be used with green beans!
Recently, while watching one of my favorite new shows The Chew, Pat and Gina Neely were guest and made portables fries. I’ve had fried mushrooms before, but who knew you can turn those gigantic mushrooms into fries. It was way cool, and a definite must try.
The very next time we have a crowd over for movies, game night, or just hanging out I’m trying out these fries recipes on a captive audience.
Do you have a non-potato recipe for fries? Do share.
