Reading is a daily activity in our home and we take frequent trips to the book store to stock up on the latest Dork Diaries or Captain Underpants book.

This summer has flown by. I know that it’s still technically summer. But schools in the south start in a few short weeks. The start of a new school year usually causes me great anxiety as I scramble the find all the accoutrements necessary for my children’s first day.

My daughter is growing. And I’m determined to make her development and maturation a positive, fun experience. She’s asking more questions than I want to answer.

I haven't quite figured out what I wanna be when I grow up. So, I aimlessly send my resume to companies across Atlanta and keep my fingers crossed in hopes of being granted an interview. This haphazard pursuit of a job usually turns up unsuccessful. So when I got a call from a company that I really, really want to work for, I was quite surprised.

I’ve made grandiose plans for the 2 months we have off from school and I can’t wait to get started. I’m not sure how many of these things we will be able to accomplish but we are going to give it our best shot. Here’s a list of the top 5 things I want to do with my kids this summer.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. As a former teacher, I have to say that while I loved the gestures by the fabulous PTA, it’s better to be appreciated all year long and not just one week during the year.

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming and I am pondering how best to express my heartfelt gratitude to my child's teachers. As a former teacher myself, I want to make sure whatever my family does reflects our sincere thanks…and I also want to make sure the teachers like what we decide to give them!

Our 7 and 4 ½ year old love each of the holidays but especially enjoy creating decorations to make the house look festive and making sweet treats for those we love.
