For a while now I've felt like I've been losing my mind, or more so my memory. I can't remember squat, and started calling what I'm experiencing 'brain farts.'

Recently, my cousin took me back to my childhood, with a picture of a truck loaded with watermelons. My grandfather was a farmer and raised animals, vegetables, and fruit, including of course watermelon. He always knew how to pick the ones that were ripe to sweet perfection. He'd say it was all in the thud.

When it comes to fries the potato is king, from McDonald's, home and steak to sweet potato fries. Let's reconsider the possibilities, there is a whole world out there beyond the spud.

When my children were younger, hanging out in the backyard, skipping rocks in a nearby pond, or swinging in the park was the best time ever. Now that they're older, it's more of a challenge to keep them entertained during summer vacation. Each of my children have their individual idea of fun, and what's boring.
